August
- August 15 – Lightning strikes a barn in Herndon, killing Eric Kidwell and Henry Moore, who had taken refuge from a thunderstorm in the barn.[2]
September
- September 5 – Thomas Reid is killed by James O'Connor when O'Connor settles an argument with Reid by striking him in the head with a hoe. O'Connor, his father, Thomas, and Reid were working on a road near Dranesville when the disagreement between Reid and the O'Connors took place.[3]
October
- October 29 – James Leanhart is severely injured in a premature blast at the Theodora Copper Mine in Herndon.[4]
