- August 9 – 36-year-old Howard Fuller is fatally shot and his two brothers, Henry and James, are wounded in Mount Pleasant, near Baileys Crossroads, when they get into an argument with Bernard Coleman and George Fry, who offer the brothers' two female companions a ride in their wagon.[1][2]
