April
- April 18 – A massive forest fire starts at Springfield Station and sweeps through the southeastern portion of the county, causing thousands of dollars of damage, destroying four homes, and threatening the communities of Accotink, Accotink Station, and Lorton before it is finally brought under control.[1][2]
October
- October 24 – The Hayfield mansion on the Hayfield Farm burns, completely destroying the house.[3]
November
- November 13 – While walking along the tracks of the Washington-Southern Railway near Franconia, 18-year-old Osey Rogers is struck by a train and killed.[4]
December
- December 21 – 50-year old Joseph S. Grimes and his wife Carrie H. Grimes are killed at the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad crossing at Lorton while returning from a family gathering in Occoquan.[5]
