March
- March 8 – Lacking the funds for maintenance, the Fairfax County School Board orders the closing of the Red Hill School and a reduction in staffing of one teacher each at five others: Baileys Crossroads, Clifton, Forestville, Lorton and Vienna.[1]
- March 26 – The Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department is organized in Fairfax, with W. W. Beattie elected as its first president.[2]
May
- May 13 – 74-year-old Charles A. Wrenn is fatally injured when he is beaten by 38-year-old Elias L. Edmunds on the road from Fairfax to Chantilly. Wrenn is taken first to Emergency Hospital, then to Garfield Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C., where he dies on May 16.[3][4]
July
- July 20 - Alexandria Corporation Court Judge Howard W. Smith is appointed judge of the 16th Circuit Court by Governor Harry Flood Byrd.[5]
September
- September 12 – The fifteenth annual Fairfax County Fair and Horse Show opens.[6]
