Events that took place in Fairfax County in April, 1997:
- April 19 – 23-year-old Michael W. Little fatally injures his passenger, 17-year-old Langley High School senior Katherine E. Pehrkon, when he drunkenly loses control of his speeding 1989 Honda Civic on Beach Mill Road in Great Falls and crashes into a tree. Pehrkon and another severely injured passenger, 17-year-old Joshua Chou, are taken to the Inova Fairfax Hospital, where she dies the next day.[1][2]
