Audrey Moore RECenter
The Audrey Moore RECenter is a public recreation center located in the Wakefield Park in Annandale. It originally opened as the Wakefield Recreation Center on April 16, 1977.[1]
Funding for construction of the Wakefield Recreation Center was included in a bond referendum approved in November, 1971.[2] The building was designed by Taylor Garvin Associates and built by M. L. Whitlow at a cost of $2.7 million over two years beginning in April 1975.[1]
The center was renamed to honor former Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chair and Annandale District Supervisor Audrey Moore on May 4, 2002.
