Events that took place in Fairfax County in August, 1966:
- August 7 – 62-year-old James L. Davis drowns while wading in Lake Fairfax. Davis, who could not swim, waded about 20 feet from shore to where the lake bed dropped off sharply. His corpse is discovered the following morning in 14 feet of water.[1]
- August 22 – 57-year-old Delmar A. Lough fatally injures 8-year-old Karen S. Edwards when she runs in front of his car on Route 50 in the Pender region of Fairfax. Karen is taken to Fairfax Hospital, where she is pronounced dead.[2]
