Eva Roy
Eva Roy (September 21, 1903 – August 6, 1918) was a 14-year-old girl who was murdered in Burke on August 6, 1918. She was found sexually assaulted, strangled, and tied to a tree near the old Haynes house with strips torn from her clothing.[1]
She is buried in the Lee Chapel Cemetery.
No one was ever convicted of her murder, although Lou Hall, a local man, was tried twice and acquitted of the crime.
