- February 3 – The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors votes 4-2 to set up a task force to study the possibility of incorporating the county as a city.[1]
- February 12 – An early morning fire in the home at 1301 Putnam Street in Falls Church kills 51-year-old Cynthia G. Griffin and her two adopted sons, 2-year-old Philip and 3-year-old Donald.[2]
