- February 4 – 37-year-old Ruby Kibler is stabbed to death by her boyfriend, 45-year-old Joseph D. Bowler, in his attic apartment in Bailey's Crossroads.[1][2]
- February 18 – 20-year-old Marion E. Murphree is shot to death by her boyfriend, 24-year-old Bennett L. May, in the bedroom of her family's home at 3714 Woodland Circle in the Lake Barcroft neighborhood of Falls Church.[3][4]
- February 21 – Fairfax County Police Chief Michael W. Young submits his resignation, effective March 17.[5]
