Joseph B. Matthews, Jr.

Joseph B. Matthews, Jr. was a 41-year-old engineer who murdered his three children with a baseball bat before mortally injuring himself with a butcher knife by cutting his own throat in the family home at 6505 Highland Avenue in Springfield on April 11, 1959.[1]

Matthews died of his wound while he was being taken to the Alexandria Hospital.[1]
