- July 4 – 38-year-old Henry D. Batchelder commits suicide with a shotgun in his apartment at 6619 Willston Place in the Seven Corners area of Falls Church.[1]
- July 9 – 17-year-old Josephine Guzman commits suicide at her sister and brother-in-law's house in the Belle Haven area of Alexandria with ant poison.[2][3]
- July 20 – A three judge court denies the suit by the City of Falls Church seeking to annex 6,880 acres of Fairfax County.
- July 23 – 38-year-old Chicagoan Eugene Crumpton fatally shoots 43-year-old Arlingtonian James Harris three times with a .38 caliber revolver in a wooded area off Rugby Road in Pender.[4][5]
