- July 5 – 30-year-old Leonard F. Bernard drowns in the Hunters Woods Pool in Reston.[1]
- July 9 – 15-year-old Mark W. Tucker fatally shoots his parents, 39-year-old Donald and 38-year-old Mary, in the family home at 3522 Goodview Court in Fairfax.[2][3]
- July 15 – 10-year-old Patricia A. Moore disappears when she leaves her Clifton home to go out to play.[4]
