- July 8 – 4-year-old John Gerik drowns in Lake Fairfax in Reston.[2]
- July 27 – 30-year-old Fairfax County Police officer Karen J. Bassford is killed near Vienna when she loses control of her patrol car and crashes into a utility pole on Gallows Road.[3]
