Lincolnia

Lincolnia is a neighborhood and census-designated place in the Alexandria region of Fairfax County.

History

At the suggestion of local landowner Levi Deming, the area was renamed Lincoln from its earlier name of Lebanon to honor President Abraham Lincoln on June 3, 1870.[1]

In order to establish a U.S. Post Office there, the name was changed to Lincolnia in 1875 to avoid confusion with another village named Lincoln in Loudoun County.[1]
