- March 18 – 45-year-old Marilyn M. Bandera is stabbed to death in her home at 6405 10th Street in Alexandria by Mack Reaves, III.[1][2]
- March 26 – 17-year-old Langley High School student Mary K. Kelley is killed in McLean when the 17-year-old driver of the Chevrolet Blazer she is riding in loses control and runs off an embankment on Old Dominion Drive.[3]
