Events that took place in Fairfax County in October, 1949:
- October 5 – Two-year-old Michael E. Miller is killed at the Oakton home of his grandmother, Ethel Mauck, when an abandoned stove falls over on him, breaking his neck.[1]
- October 10 – 29-year-old Harvey White is sentenced to 15 years in prison by Judge Paul Brown for fatally shooting his brother-in-law Charles Garner in Garner's home in Bailey's Crossroads on July 10.[2]
