Robert C. Fitzgerald

Robert Clayton Fitzgerald (September 22, 1921 – October 10, 2001) was a lawyer who was the Commonwealth's Attorney for Fairfax County from 1955 to 1963 and a state senator from 1963 to 1971.

Fitzgerald graduated from the George Washington High School in Alexandria, then attended the University of Virginia, graduating with a B.A. in 1941.[1]

He then took a break from his studies to serve in the Marine Corps in the Pacific during World War II.

In 1946, Fitzgerald began practicing law in Falls Church.

On May 3, 1951, Judge Paul E. Brown appointed Fitzgerald to the bench of the Trial Justice Court, replacing Harry Carrico, who resigned to enter private practice.[2]
