- October 27, 1940 – 57-year-old Susan Duffy, of New Castle, Delaware, dies when she loses control of her car and crashes into a dirt embankment along the Lee Highway. The crash also injures several members of Mrs. Duffy's family who were riding in the car with her.
- October 27, 1951 – A Piper Cub crash lands in a cow pasture in Fairfax Station, near the proposed airport site at Burke.
- October 27, 2007 – 20-year-old Luis Miguel Abrego Romero stabs and mortally injures 23-year-old Juan Jose Alvarenga to settle an argument that began at a party at Romero's Herndon apartment. Alvarenga is taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital, where he dies.
- October 27, 2014 – Surprising even his own attorney, 26-year-old Caleb Crew unexpectedly pleads guilty to first-degree murder before Judge John Tran for strangling his 31-year-old wife Andrea in a credit union parking lot on August 7, 2013.
