Scott S. Brabrand
Dr. Scott Sorensen Brabrand (b. August 1, 1968) is the superintendent of the Fairfax County Public Schools system.
Brabrand attended George Washington University, where he earned a B.S. in international economics in 1990, then took his master's degree in education.[1] He would complete his doctoral degree in educational administration at Virginia Tech in 2003.
Professional career
In 1994, Brabrand joined FCPS as a social studies teacher, and taught at Herndon High School for five years.[1][2]
Leaving the classroom, Brabrand continued as an assistant principal at Herndon High and later as an associate principal at Lake Braddock Secondary School.[2]
Brabrand was the principal of Fairfax High School from 2005 to 2009.[3]
Following Brian Binggeli's departure to become superintendent of Brevard Public Schools in Brevard, Florida in 2009, Brabrand was named assistant superintendent of Cluster IV for Fairfax County Public Schools.[4]
In April 2012, Brabrand became the Superintendent of Lynchburg City Schools in Lynchburg, Virginia. Brabrand resigned from LCS on June 1, 2017 to return to FCPS as superintendent.[1]
