- February 21 – While walking along the track of the Southern Railroad in Clifton, Cleveland Hayes is struck by a passenger train and killed.[1][2]
March
- March 9 – The town of Clifton is incorporated, with R. R. Buckley becoming its first mayor.
July
- July 8 – 33-year old Ashton King is killed when he is run over by an engine at Accotink.[3]
- July 26 – The National Bank of Fairfax is organized.[4]
