- April 11 – The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors votes 7-2 to express its intent to move the county's administrative headquarters out of the City of Fairfax.[1]
- April 14 – 15 people are taken to the hospital and many others require first aid treatment when an appearance by singer Leif Garrett at the Harmony Hut record store in Springfield Mall draws a crowd of over a thousand.[2]
