Events that took place in Fairfax County in August, 1959:
- August 8 – By a 4-2 vote, the Fairfax County School Board adopts a plan for desegregating the Fairfax County Public Schools system. The plan calls for desegregating one grade a year, starting with the first grade class in the fall of 1960.[1]
