Edward L. Long, Jr.
Edward L. "Ed" Long, Jr. is the Fairfax County Executive.
Long was appointed by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on April 10, 2012 and took office on April 25.[1]
Long joined the Fairfax County government in 1977 as a budget analyst.[2] In 1989, Long became director of the County's Department of Management and Budget.[2]
Long was appointed as the County's chief financial officer in 1997.[3]
After 34 years working for the county, Long retired as a deputy county executive and the chief financial officer in May 2011.
Long next took a position as the executive sponsor of the Fairfax County Unified System (FOCUS) project, the County's implementation of an upgraded accounting system provided by SAP and meant to unify the County's finance, budget, procurement and human resources information systems.[4]
