Greater Springfield Volunteer Fire Department

The Greater Springfield Volunteer Fire Department serves the unincorporated town of Springfield and surrounding communities.

The department is Company 22 in the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department system.

In the late 1950s, the Springfield community began to organize to provide a fire department. On February 14, 1957, Robert A. Sloan was elected chairman of the Committee for the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department.[1]
