Events that took place in Fairfax County in July, 1983:
- July 1 – Fairfax Circuit Court Judge Barnard F. Jennings sentences 23-year-old Thomas S. Jenkins to 20 years in prison for killing his 3½-month-old nephew Jonathan O. Dyer by throwing the baby into a ceiling light fixture while high on PCP at the Dyer family home in Annandale on November 20, 1982.[1]
- July 15 – 33-year-old Raymond T. Ball fatally shoots 33-year-old Leon F. Moore and wounds his 22-year-old girlfriend Leslie McCain at her rented house at 4104 Hummer Road in Annandale. Ball, who is also shot, staggers to a nearby 7-Eleven seeking help.[2][3][4]
