- June 1 – Alexandria psychiatrist Paul J. Peckar is seriously injured when a mail bomb explodes in his office in the Sherwood Hall Medical Center in Mount Vernon.[1]
- June 20 – 31-year-old hospital orderly Karl A. Bodden is stabbed and beaten to death outside his Centreville apartment by 23-year-old Venancio Romero Cabanas.[2][3]
