Events that took place in Fairfax County in May, 1987:
- May 19 – 71-year-old Alice B. Sheldon fatally shoots her bedridden 84-year-old husband Ting, then calls her attorney to inform him before committing suicide in their home at 6037 Ramshorn Place in McLean.[1]
- May 30 – Carla J. Porritt smothers her two-month-old son William in her Fairfax apartment. The death is considered a case of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome until 1990, when Porritt is charged with murder.[2][3]
