Naeun Yoon

Naeun Yoon was a 15-year-old Langley High School freshman who was struck and killed as she walked along Route 7 in Great Falls by 28-year-old lawyer Jane L. Wagner in a hit-and-run crash on the night of March 8, 2000.[1][2][3]

Yoon, a recent immigrant from Korea, had had an argument with her 14-year-old brother, Yi Han, which prompted the siblings' mother, Sung Hee Yoon, to pull over to the side of the road. Both Yoon and her brother got out of their mother's minivan, and she started walking along the side of the road.[2]

As her mother watched from inside the minivan, a silver 1994 Mercedes swerved in front of the parked vehicle onto the shoulder where Naeun had been walking. Naeun was knocked 70 feet over the guard rail and down an embankment. She was taken to Columbia Reston Hospital in Reston, where she was pronounced dead.[2]
