Events that took place in Fairfax County in September, 1970:
- September 10 – Motorcycle enthusiast Francis A. Akers pleads guilty before Judge Albert V. Bryan to fatally shooting two members of another motorcycle enthusiast club, 21-year-old Lewis T. Hartless and 19-year-old Richard Newland, in Tysons Corner on March 26.[1]
- September 22 – 23-year-old Diane Bagley is struck by a car and mortally injured as she crosses Richmond Highway in Alexandria. Bagley is taken to the Alexandria Hospital, where she dies.[2]
- September 23 – The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors appoints George J. Kelley, Jr. as Fairfax County Executive to replace the retiring Carlton C. Massey.[3]
- September 23 – The Fairfax County School Board appoints Spear J. Davis as the new superintendent of the Fairfax County Public Schools system.[4]
