- April 13, 1961 – 9-year-old Groveton Elementary School fourth grader Teresa Ann Luscynski is killed by 17-year-old student school bus driver Harry F. Scott, Jr. when she bends over to pick up her umbrella after getting off the bus and is run over by Scott.
- April 13, 2011 – 44-year-old Annandale man Hung T. Nguyen opens fire in the Belle View Barber Shop in Alexandria, killing 39-year-old Le D. Hoang and wounding another man. Nguyen surrenders to the Fairfax County Police the next day.
