- November 17, 1994 – 25-year-old John F. Baumgardner is shot to death in the parking lot of the Fair Oaks Mall by 28-year-old Louis W. Raia. Raia was the dupe of 18-year-old Sheron Montrey, a pathological liar who had woven a tale of rape and abuse at the hands of someone nicknamed "Tony", and who may have not even known Baumgardner when she lured him out of the Benningan's restaurant in the mall.
- November 17, 1995 – 18-year-old Sheron Montrey is sentenced to 23 years in prison by Judge Gerald Bruce Lee for her role in the November 17, 1994 murder of John F. Baumgardner.
- November 17, 1999 – 20-year-old Tim Jerman is convicted of second-degree murder and abduction for the fatal beating of burn artist Justin R. Rhatigan at a Kingstowne townhouse on July 11.
- November 17, 2014 – 62-year-old Hector Flores is struck and killed while crossing Columbia Pike in Annandale.
