- November 5, 1938 – 69-year-old Mary Thompson is struck and killed in Pender by J. R. Allison when he loses control of his car and skids, striking Thompson and dragging her 75 feet into a fence.
- November 5, 1968 – 17-year-old Kirby A. Pee and 18-year-old Vincent A. Wright attack and overpower Fairfax County Police officer Charles Byrd, stealing his service revolver, as he tries to arrest them in Lorton.
- November 5, 1998 – Off-duty Fairfax County deputy sheriff Samuel S. Gonsalves fatally shoots 36-year-old Juan Pablo Ramos when Ramos gets in his car and tries to stab him with a screwdriver as he waits at a traffic signal to exit the Springfield Square apartment complex in Springfield.
