Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology

The Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology is a public magnet high school in Alexandria.

The school was originally built as the Jefferson High School in 1963 and opened the following year.

A vote by the Fairfax County School Board on October 11, 1984 officially designated the school as a magnet school, allowing the school to receive $242,000 in state funding for its first two years, and opening up enrollment to students from Arlington Loudoun, and Prince William counties, as well as the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Manassas and Manassas Park.[1] The school opened as a magnet school in September 1985.
