Thuy Le Nguyen
Thuy Le Nguyen was a 22-year-old woman who was fatally injured when she was struck by a car as she tried to cross Route 50 at Patrick Henry Drive near the Seven Corners Shopping Center in Falls Church on the evening of January 6, 1980.[1]
Nguyen was taken to Fairfax Hospital, where she lingered, brain-dead, in a coma until she died on January 15.[2]
She had grown up in a middle class family in Saigon, Vietnam but fled the country following the communist takeover in 1975. At the time of her death, she was working at Arlington's Indo-Chinese Cooperative Education Program helping other Vietnamese refugees, and had just moved into a new apartment with her brother Tuan near the University of Maryland, where he was a student.[2]
