May
- May 9 – A fire kills 8-year-old Carrie Harper and her two-year-old brother Robert and fatally burns their 12-year-old sister Mabel on their father James' houseboat on the Little Hunting Creek near Alexandria when a can of coal oil set near a hot stove explodes. Mabel is taken to the Alexandria Hospital, where she dies that evening.[1]
August
- August 2 – 48-year-old Southern Railway Section Boss Allen Payne is killed near Clifton when he steps out of the way of a southbound train and is instead struck by the northbound train, the Number 2 Chesapeake and Ohio.[2]
- August 24 – 30-year-old laborer Walter Massey is mortally injured while attempting to board a moving train in Clifton. Massey is taken to the Alexandria Hospital, where he dies of his injuries that evening.[3]
