January
- January 15 – A fire completely destroys Herndon High School in Herndon.[1]
March
- March 4 – 44-year-old Louis Boersig attacks and beats Minnie I. Ridgeway and her daughters, 6-year-old Loretta and 4-year-old Kathleen, mortally injuring the two children, at their home in Alexandria. They are taken to the Alexandria Hospital, where Kathleen dies the next day and Loretta dies on March 12.[2][3]
July
- July 7 – Louis F. Boersig is electrocuted in Richmond for the March 4 attack that killed Loretta and Kathleen Ridgeway at their Alexandria home.[4]
August
- August 5 – 55-year-old postmaster James J. Sangster dies in an early morning fire that completely destroys the store of James J. Dunn in Burke.[5]
- August 14 – 18-year-old Edith Rudacille is mortally injured when motorcyclist Joseph W. Taylor strikes her as she crosses a road in Merrifield. She is taken to the Georgetown Hospital, where she dies the next day.[6]
September
- September 14 – The fourteenth annual Fairfax County Fair begins its four day run.[7]
December
- December 7 – Carl R. McIntosh is appointed as as special traffic officer by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.[8]
