Annandale Elementary School
Annandale Elementary School was a public elementary school in Annandale .
The school was originally built in 1925. An addition that included seven classrooms, as well as a library, cafeteria and office was constructed by Eugene Simpson and Bro. of Alexandria in 1950.[1]
On March 20, 1975, citing declining enrollment, the Fairfax County School Board voted 9-2 to close the school at the end of the school year in June.[2]
The building was one of three, along with the former Lillian Carey and Drew Smith Elementary Schools, that was turned over to the county in 1983 in exchange for a transfer of $615,000.[3]
The former school now serves as the ACCA Child Development Center, which moved into the building in 1977 and is operated by the Annandale Christian Community for Action.
