Events that took place in Fairfax County in April, 1986:
- April 18 – Fairfax Circuit Court Judge William G. Plummer sentences 16-year-old Thomas L. Grogg to 40 years in prison for the murder of Hallie Hollis in Lorton on October 20, 1985.[1]
- April 22 – 21-year-old David B. Wright fatally shoots 33-year-old manager Woo Il Pak and wounds his 30-year-old wife Sunye during a botched robbery at the Shell Food Mart at 5757 Seminary Road in Falls Church. In a particularly shooty mood, Wright also manages to shoot himself in the leg while fleeing the scene, and is arrested at a Baltimore-area hospital following a tip. Pak is airlifted to Fairfax Hospital, where he dies five hours later.[2][3]
- April 23 – 31-year-old Adalberto S. Irizarry pleads guilty to second-degree murder for shooting 38-year-old Manuel DeJesus Rodriguez in the head in a wooded area off Furnace Road in Lorton on January 14.[4]
