- April 2 – 89-year-old Miriam Ruemele dies in a kitchen fire in her condomium at 7444 Spring Village Drive in Greenspring Village in Springfield.[1]
- April 5 – 76-year-old Anastasia Spiliotopoulos is struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver on Lee Highway near the intersection of Mainstone Drive in Fairfax.[2][3]
- April 8 – The groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Oakton Library is held in Oakton.[4]
- April 26 – As part of a quid pro quo for an additional $150 million in funding, the Fairfax County School Board votes to turn over a dozen unneeded properties totaling 189 acres to Fairfax County.[5]
