- February 6 – Fairfax County agrees to purchase the Crescent Apartments in Reston from the Mark Winkler Company for $49.5 million, preserving the complex as affordable housing for county residents.[1]
- February 22 – 2-year-old Jada C. Leiva-Hernandez drowns in a swimming pool in the Lake Barcroft neighborhood of Falls Church.[2]
