- April 10 – The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors votes unanimously to appoint Edward L. Long, Jr. as the Fairfax County Executive, replacing the retiring Anthony H. Griffin.[1][2]
- April 29 – 42-year-old Amadeo Guerra-Giron is stabbed in Chantilly by William Santiago. Guerra-Giron is transferred under medical care in May to his home country of Guatemala, where he dies of his injuries on July 23.[3]
