- April 1 – John W. Dargle, Jr. abruptly resigns as Director of the Fairfax County Park Authority. FCPA Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer Cindy Messinger takes over as acting director.[1][2]
- April 12 – 46-year-old Tasheik A. Champean is sentenced to 30 years in Federal prison for his role in a botched home invasion robbery at 14421 Compton Road in Centreville that resulted in the fatal shooting of 39-year-old handyman Jose Cardona on May 17, 2010.[3]
- April 18 – The Fairfax County School Board unanimously approves Karen Garza as the new superintendent of the Fairfax County Public Schools system.[4]
