- April 7 – Vienna Councilmember Laurie DiRocco is appointed mayor by the Town Council to fill the vacancy created by Mayor M. Jane Seeman's death on February 23.[1]
- April 17 – A gas explosion in the Audubon Estates trailer park in Alexandria damages 21 mobile homes.[2]
- April 25 – 25-year-old Carol N. Lutsky is sentenced to 22.6 years in prison by Judge Robert J. Smith for beating and mortally injuring her girlfriend's son Nehemiah Williams in her Vienna home on October 5, 2011.[3][4]
