Carmela dela Rosa

Carmela dela Rosa is a murderer who dropped her 2½-year-old granddaughter, Angelyn Ogdoc, from a 44-foot-high walkway in a parking garage at the Tysons Corner Center on November 29, 2010.

The mortally injured child was rushed to Fairfax Hospital but died of her injuries early the next morning.

Dela Rosa was arrested by Fairfax County Police Officer Anthony P. Stancampiano.[1] Dela Rosa admitted to Officer Stancampiano that she had injured her granddaughter, saying, "I did it. I threw the baby off."[2]

Stancampiano transported dela Rosa to the McLean District Station where she was further interviewed by Detectives Stephen M. Needels and Keith Castilon.[3]

Dela Rosa was represented at trial by Deputy Public Defender Dawn M. Butorac.[4] Butorac argued that dela Rosa was insane when she killed her granddaughter.[4]

On January 5, 2012, Judge Bruce D. White sentenced dela Rosa to 35 years in prison.[4]
