David P. Bobzien
David P. Bobzien was the Fairfax County Attorney from 1993 to 2016.
Education
Bobzein attended Holy Cross University, graduating in 1968 with a bachelor of arts in political science.[1] He next attended the University of Virginia Law School, graduating in 1971.[1]
From 1971 to 1975, Bobzien served in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the Judge Advocate General's Corps.[2] While in the Army, Bobzien took a master of laws in taxation from The George Washington University.[1] After leaving the Army, Bobzien entered private practice at the law firm of Fitzgerald and Smith.[2]
Bobzien left private practice in 1979, becoming Assistant Counsel in the Office of Professional Responsibility of the United States Department of Justice.[1][3] One of his tasks was to investigate charges of influence peddling against President Jimmy Carter's brother Billy.[4]
Bobzien was hired as County Attorney by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors on December 15, 1992, and took over the job in January 1993.[5]
Personal
Bobzein married his wife Catherine in 1969, and the couple has two sons; David, Jr. and Brendan.
