- December 3 – The Virginia supreme court upholds the annexation of 7.65 square miles of Fairfax County by the City of Alexandria.[1]
- December 15 – The Centreville Volunteer Fire Department dedicates its new firehouse.[2]
- December 24 – 31-year-old Irma S. Norton commits suicide by asphyxiating herself with carbon monoxide in the basement garage of the family's home at 9 Wilton Road in the Wilton Woods neighborhood of Alexandria. She is discovered by her husband Howard and taken to Alexandria Hospital, where she is pronounced dead.[3]
