- December 4 – 22-year-old John Monroe pleads guilty to voluntary manslaughter for the fatal beating of 48-year-old park custodian Greer F. Holyfield in Clifton on September 24, 1966.[1]
- December 16 – The Alexandria City Council votes unanimously to bring a suit in Fairfax Circuit Court seeking to annex nearly 8.5 miles of Fairfax County.[2]
