- February 6 – 17-year-old Jennifer L. Hauenstein is killed by 21-year-old Wahid Avawi when Avawi drunkenly crashes his Pontiac Trans Am into a Volkswagen Rabbit at about 100 miles per hour at the intersection of Little River Turnpike and Guinea Road in Fairfax.[1][2]
- February 12 – The Fairfax County Judicial Center is renamed the Jennings Building to honor retired Chief Judge Barnard F. Jennings.[3]
- February 13 – 61-year-old Fleming E. Fountaine is found fatally shot in the stairwell of his apartment building at 2935 John Marshall Drive in the Seven Corners area of Falls Church.[4]
- February 17 – 21-year-old Antonio Bowers is stabbed to death at the Lorton Correctional Center Youth Center I facility.[5]
