Events that took place in Fairfax County in March, 1988:
- March 3 – 23-year-old Steven T. Souther, 20-year-old Robert Sterzel, and 20-year-old Larry Ruscio are killed and 17-year-old Sean S. Lawrence is seriously injured by 47-year-old Kyong Sung Kil when he strikes them with his Chevy Nomad van on Westmoreland Street in McLean, sending their bodies flying as far as 110 feet. Kil flees the scene, but calls police 10 hours later to turn himself in.[1][2]
- March 9 – Larry L. Sharp pleads guilty to first-degree murder for stabbing Rose Beale to death on December 23, 1987.[3]
- March 14 – Michael P. McWeeny is sworn in as a judge on the Fairfax Circuit Court.[4]
